With this FUN activity, children will soon learn to segment to spell short vowel CVC words.  They will press the ‘sound buttons’ as they say each of the phonemes in the CVC word, then put them back together as they move their finger across the arrow.  Finally, children can have a go at making the CVC word with magnetic letters or by writing it.
 
Included are:
• 1 page of segmenting activity ideas;
 
•60 CVC segmenting cards: children look at the picture on the card, say the word, ‘stretch’ the sounds whilst pointing to each sound button and then repeat the word as they move their finger along the arrow.  They could make the words using magnetic letters or write them with a whiteboard pen.  If you laminate the cards, you’ll be able to use the activity again and again!
